What is art anyway?
Art is for two types of people :
The poor people who make it and die before it's worth anything and the rich people who have more money than sense who buy it before the poor people die. Please note this does not relate to Damien Hirst , who is just plain lucky.
It occurred to me the other day as I was at the New Tate looking at the Joseph Beuys and August Strindburg works that there are those who know what art is and those who pretend they do.
Try looking around the room next time your out and see the expressions on the faces.
There are many with perplexed looks, some trying to look intelligent and some that look at a piece of the wall that isnt even the art.I can only say to those people who know nothing about Art History, why go to these exhibitions? Or at least before you remark on that bit of wood next to the graffiti ridden bedspread...Please read the explanatary pamphlet! Soapbox is now firmly put to one side....
